Here's what the author had to say about STEM and his work:
I’m Jiemuel Cabacoy, a 21-year-old 3rd-year Computer Science student and DOST scholar from BISU-Bilar Campus, originally from Inaghuban, Pilar, Bohol. I’m passionate about the STEM field because I love how technology can turn ideas into real solutions that help people. For me, STEM goes beyond codes and machines. It is about using innovation and creativity to create meaningful change and improve lives.
My output is an infographic carousel poster that introduces PayakApp, a mobile application developed as one of our Computer Science projects at BISU-Bilar Campus. It aims to promote mental health awareness and make support more accessible, simple, and stigma-free. I chose to focus on this because mental health issues continue to rise, especially among the youth, and this topic is personally meaningful to me — my older sister once experienced and was diagnosed with anxiety, but thankfully, she’s doing well now. Through this project, I want to show how technology can be used to promote understanding, compassion, and support for mental health, turning personal inspiration into innovation.
