Presented with various social justice issues, our student-participants at the General Santos City Link Up tested their data visualization and storytelling skills when they created the following infographics.
Students chose from the following topics: DTI’s P500 Noche Buena budget; Can You Survive on Minimum Wage?; How Much Do You Need In Order to Eat?; Are We Sinking?; The Great Pacific Garbage Patch; and Will we run out of tuna?
Mathematics education expert Dr. Debbie Verzosa commended the students' outputs, mentioning their appealing design and smart decisions in presenting the data. She also shared pointers on improving the works, especially with regard to considering the target audience, identifying specific sources, capitalizing on surprising statistics, improving readability, and clarifying the main argument of an infographic to ensure that it inspires action.
